Ingredients

Boston Roll Ingredients

  • 6 pieces cooked shrimp boiled or steamed, then chilled
  • 1 avocado thinly sliced
  • 1 cucumber julienned
  • 2 cups sushi rice prepared with rice vinegar
  • 2 sheets nori (seaweed)
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • soy sauce to taste
  • pickled ginger for garnish
  • wasabi optional

Instructions

  • Cook the sushi rice and season it with rice vinegar while warm.
  • Slice the avocado and julienne the cucumber.
  • Lay a sheet of nori, shiny side down, on the bamboo mat.
  • Using wet fingers, spread a thin, even layer of rice over the nori, leaving about an inch of space at the top.
  • Arrange the shrimp, avocado, and cucumber horizontally across the center of the rice.
  • Use the bamboo mat to roll the nori tightly, starting from the edge closest to you. Apply gentle pressure as you roll.
  • With a sharp knife, slice the roll into six or eight equal pieces.
  • Serve with soy sauce, pickled ginger, and wasabi (optional).

Notes

For extra flavor, top with tobiko (fish roe) or drizzle with spicy mayo. Keep a bowl of water nearby to prevent the rice from sticking to your hands.
