Equipment

  • Deep Fryer or Skillet
  • Tongs
  • Paper Towels

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 8 oz mushrooms sliced (white button, cremini, or portobello)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs or panko for extra crunch
  • 1 tsp salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika or cayenne pepper optional, for a mild kick
  • 2 cups vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  • Prepare the dredging station: In one bowl, place flour; in another, beat the eggs; in a third, add breadcrumbs mixed with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
  • Heat oil in a deep fryer or skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  • Coat each mushroom slice first in flour, then in beaten eggs, and finally in breadcrumbs, pressing lightly to adhere.
  • Fry the mushrooms in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove mushrooms using tongs and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  • Serve hot with dipping sauces like ranch, garlic aioli, or spicy sriracha mayo.

Notes

For a healthier option, air-fry the mushrooms at 375°F (190°C) for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking.
