Ingredients
  

Cake Base

  • 1 angel food cake store-bought or homemade, cubed

Creamy Layer

  • 1 package vanilla pudding mix 3.4 oz
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 cups whipped topping such as Cool Whip

Topping

  • 1 can cherry pie filling 21 oz
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds optional, for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Cube the angel food cake into bite-sized pieces.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together vanilla pudding mix and cold milk until thickened.
  • Fold in sour cream and whipped topping to create a creamy mixture.
  • In a 9x13-inch dish, spread half of the cubed cake evenly as the first layer.
  • Spread half of the cherry pie filling over the cake layer.
  • Pour half of the creamy mixture over the cherries and cake.
  • Repeat the layers with the remaining cake, cherries, and creamy mixture.
  • Sprinkle with sliced almonds if desired.
  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving.

Notes

For variations, try swapping cherry pie filling with blueberry or strawberry filling. Add a drizzle of chocolate syrup for a richer taste.
