Ingredients
Cake Base
- 1 angel food cake store-bought or homemade, cubed
Creamy Layer
- 1 package vanilla pudding mix 3.4 oz
- 2 cups cold milk
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 cups whipped topping such as Cool Whip
Topping
- 1 can cherry pie filling 21 oz
- 1/2 cup sliced almonds optional, for garnish
Instructions
- Cube the angel food cake into bite-sized pieces.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together vanilla pudding mix and cold milk until thickened.
- Fold in sour cream and whipped topping to create a creamy mixture.
- In a 9x13-inch dish, spread half of the cubed cake evenly as the first layer.
- Spread half of the cherry pie filling over the cake layer.
- Pour half of the creamy mixture over the cherries and cake.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining cake, cherries, and creamy mixture.
- Sprinkle with sliced almonds if desired.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving.
Notes
For variations, try swapping cherry pie filling with blueberry or strawberry filling. Add a drizzle of chocolate syrup for a richer taste.
