Equipment

  • Large Skillet
  • Dutch Oven or Deep Baking Dish
  • Whisk
  • Sharp Knife

Ingredients

Turkey Wings

  • 4 pieces turkey wings large

Gravy Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 1 medium bell pepper sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme dried
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  • Rinse the turkey wings under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel. Trim off excess fat.
  • Season the wings with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Lightly dredge in flour, shaking off any excess.
  • In a large skillet, heat the butter and oil over medium heat. Brown the turkey wings on both sides.
  • Remove the wings and set them aside. Add the onions, bell pepper, and garlic to the skillet. Sauté until soft.
  • Sprinkle the remaining flour into the skillet and stir to create a paste. Gradually add chicken broth while whisking to avoid lumps.
  • Stir in Worcestershire sauce and thyme. Let the gravy simmer until it thickens.
  • Place the turkey wings in a Dutch oven or deep baking dish and pour the gravy over them.
  • Cover tightly with foil and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 2 to 2.5 hours, until the wings are fork-tender.

Notes

For a healthier version, use skinless turkey wings and low-sodium chicken broth. Serve over rice, mashed potatoes, or with cornbread for a complete meal.
