Ingredients

Sugar Cookie Icing

  • 2 cups powdered sugar sifted for smooth icing
  • 2-3 tbsp milk or water adjust for desired consistency
  • 1 tbsp corn syrup for a glossy finish
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla or almond extract for flavor
  • food coloring optional

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons of milk or water. Add more liquid gradually if needed.
  • Stir in corn syrup and vanilla (or almond) extract. Mix well until the icing is smooth and glossy.
  • Adjust consistency: If the icing is too thick, add a few more drops of liquid. If it’s too runny, mix in more powdered sugar.
  • For decorating, transfer the icing to a piping bag or squeeze bottle. Use immediately, or cover with plastic wrap to prevent drying.

Notes

For best results, let the icing set for at least 2 hours before stacking cookies. Royal icing variations can take longer to dry.
