Sugar Cookie Icing

cups
powdered sugar
sifted for smooth icing

tbsp
milk or water
adjust for desired consistency

corn syrup
for a glossy finish
1/2
tsp
vanilla or almond extract
for flavor
food coloring

Instructions
In a mixing bowl, whisk together powdered sugar and 2 tablespoons of milk or water. Add more liquid gradually if needed.
Stir in corn syrup and vanilla (or almond) extract. Mix well until the icing is smooth and glossy.
Adjust consistency: If the icing is too thick, add a few more drops of liquid. If it’s too runny, mix in more powdered sugar.
For decorating, transfer the icing to a piping bag or squeeze bottle. Use immediately, or cover with plastic wrap to prevent drying.
Notes
For best results, let the icing set for at least 2 hours before stacking cookies. Royal icing variations can take longer to dry.
